Abies pinsapo

On my walks in the Berkeley Hills, I've noticed this lovely fir, one I'd never seen before, and PlantNet tells me it is Spanish fir.

The seed cones are abundant and large, measuring around six inches.

Spanish fir is native to parts of southeastern Spain and Morocco.

Close-up of cones visible on lower left side of the tree, so heavy they've flopped over.

Needles are thick, stiff, and clothe the branchlets densely.
